MATH:  The test tomorrow has been postponed until Friday (due to a conflict with the Chinese New Year parade).

Please prepare for the test by reviewing the test items that were challenging for your child.  Al students have in their possession a graded pretest (which is NOT recorded and averaged into their grade).

Complete Study Links: 6-6 and 6-8.

HOMEROOM:

WW Lesson 13: 5 “cards” and A tonight. (We are in pursuing a slower pace with each lesson now taking 8 to 10 days.)

RESPONSE TO LITERATURE:

Complete the remaining Bong paragraph tonight.  Directions and time to complete the conclusion will be part of tomorrow’s Language Art Block.  I have held consultations with all students at this time, correcting weaknesses as they complete each paragraph.  I’m really excited to see the depth of thinking in which students are engaged!

Math: Homework only for the “Mel’s Bowling” Gang (see last night’s entry)  Students are currently completing the Mid Year Study Guide/Pretest in class.  We will continue tomorrow.  Mid Year test will be on Thursday.  This test will be weighted twice the weight of a regular Unit test.

HOMEROOM

Wordly Wise: 15 sentences from Lesson 13.  An adult must read and sign the sheet.  Please give your child specific feedback as to whether their usage of the word is correct.

Response to Literature:  Bing, bong #1, and bong #2 should be completed prior to class tomorrow.  Wed for bong #3, Thursday for bingo.  Friday the entire 5 paragraph essay must be handed in first thing in the morning: bing= introduction , bongs are the body and bingo is the conclusion.  (All students must consult with Ms K as EACH paragraph is completed.)

Math: Journal 6-11 math box; 7-1 pages 209 and 210

A Mid Year assessment will be given Thursday of this week.  A study guide (pretest) will be given tomorrow in class.  Students should use this to prepare for the Mid Year Test.

HOMEROOM:

One paragraph must be completed tonight for the response to literature piece on Blood on the River.  Most students have completed the first two paragraphs already. Each body paragraph will be between 8 and 11 sentences. The final piece of 5 paragraphs is due Friday.  Each day there will be writing time with guidance for an hour. Very explicit directions and guidance have been given in class.  Individual consultation with the teacher is required by all students.

Wordly Wise resumes this week.  Bring your book tomorrow!

Math:  Unit 6 test  (study and review adding and subtracting with fractions as well as data items:range, mode, median and mean)

HOMEROOM:

Complete the 4 square planning grid for your personal narrative

Write the first “body” paragraph of the Blood on the River response to literature.  Use your notes. You must include two quotes to support your observation about Sam’s character at the beginning of the novel.  Don’t be concerned about the proper punctuation needed to include the quotes.  We will cover that in class tomorrow.

8:15 departure,  bring a sack lunch (no glass, please)

COLONIAL WEEK !

This is it!  All students should have their lines completely memorized by now.  They will need to deliver their lines without the aid of their of cards and with confidence.  Tonight’s homework is to focus on this.  Museum board final touches will be done tomorrow in class (8 to 9 only work time Tuesday). No class time Wednesday due to the Revolutionary War Walk.  Thursday in class work time is minimal for last minute glueing and trade signs (and names on parchment) to be made for the Museum.  Boards are due complete as of 8:00 Friday morning.

Ms K. Math’s: NO MATH ON Tuesday or Wednesday due to conflict with Revolutionary War Walks. Virtually no homework this week.  Focus is on utilizing different graphs and reviewing how to determine common denominators in order to add and subtract fractions.  Math Box 5-8 is due tomorrow if it was not completed in class.
